Choirs
Rowen has been conducting classical and popular community choirs in the Blue Mountains for over a decade. Rowen was the Musical Director of the Phoenix Choir Blue Mountains between 2012 and 2022, regularly performing major works from the classical choral repertoire across the Blue Mountains. He formed the Lithgow Community Choir, and the Blue Mountains Community Choir, Katoomba, and has worked as a guest conductor for the Moo Choir, the Heathens, the Academy Singers, Leura Singers and the Glenbrook Community Choir. Rowen is known for his engaged rehearsal style and musical passion. He is committed to teaching choristers from a wide range of experience and skill levels. Rowen regularly runs choral workshops, and offers private singing lessons from his studio in Mount Victoria.
Rowen conducted several massed choral and orchestral performances open to interested choristers, such as the Heathens Choir’s Bulgamada - an Indigenous Big Sing on 24 August, 2019, the Sing in the Mountains performances of Handel's Messiah on 9 April, 2017, and Mozart’s Requiem on 4 August, 2019. Rowen also conducted the 2014 and 2016 Blackheath Choir Festival's Combined Choir events, which pooled the Festival's participating choirs.
In July 2023, Rowen was appointed Musical Director of Penrith City Choir and continues to do some guest conducting roles with the Heathens Choir in Blackheath and the Moo Choir. You can contact Rowen via the mail icon above to be kept up to date with his next projects.
